AAPBL Summer Leaguethe league no longer exists

The AAPBL Summer League will take place in Billings, Montana, July 10 to July 23. Participants in the summer league will report to Billings on July 10th. That evening a short orientation meeting will be held. July 11th will be a practice day for all summer league teams with games beginning July 12th.

The Summer League will provide players a two week period of intense basketball work. Teams will work with the coaching staff in classroom settings breaking down video and preparing for the next opponent. On the court practice sessions will include game preparation plus skill development work.

“The summer league will be a comprehensive developmental summer league for players who are looking for an opportunity to be seen.” said AAPBL President Worth Christie.

Registration will include room and board and transportation to and from team activities. Plus the opportunity to be seen by all ten AAPBL coaching staffs. Each coach will have the ability to invite players from the summer league to their veterans camp in the fall. Should a player from the AAPBL Summer League make it through training camp and onto an active opening night roster they will receive a refund of the summer league registration fee.

The AAPBL Summer League will also be an opportunity for broadcasters and referees interested in becoming a part of the AAPBL. Broadcasters will have the opportunity to do play by play and receive instruction from professionals in sports broadcasting. Referees will work games and receive instruction about calling the professional game.

“From the Summer League we expect broadcasters and referees to be hired by the league, respectively.” Christie said.
