The WNIT Tournament teams have been announced yesterday. This year 64 teams will be allowed and starting March 21st, the regionals will host the games. Unlike the NCAA Womens Tournament, the WNIT has more trouble with TV coverage. Therefore, local channels are likely to broadcast the games.

View the first round schedule.

I suggest watching the WNIT online with a satellite tv program on your computer. Using free websites are ok, but they are slow, sluggish and not exactly worth the time in my opinion.

For March Madness I was able to get a discount $20/off the normal price of $49.99. You can not only watch the WNIT but also, NIT, NCAA Mens and Womens NCAA Tournament Online

I’m sure you that you have lots of basketball highlight videos on your hard drive or maybe on DVD. I know recently after purchasing my Macbook pro I decided to make use of cloud services such as Dropbox.com to upload and back up my media files. I don’t serve any important documents on cloud websites but video and images for sure. Even though most computers come with sufficient amounts of hard drive space, but overtime it gets clogged..

I suggested to my family the same. I use Dropbox specifically because with their service you get 2GB free and it can be syncronized with my computer and iPhone. For me on the go its great so I recommend that you guys check out Dropbox!

I get questions daily from players asking how to play basketball overseas. Even with all of the resources from sites like Basketball Overseas, Basketball Connect and Basketball Agencies, some players are still confused.

If you are ready to play overseas then my friend Augie Johnston who is currently playing pro basketball in Germany will specifically show you exactly how to become a professional basketball player. Augie’s course gives you some downright sneaky tricks to give you direct contact with teams and agents that 90% of players do not know. These are the exact same techniques that players have used in the past to land jobs playing professional basketball internationally.

The organized 7-Step video course is good and I’ve checked it out personally before recommending it to you.

This is a powerful poem written by a friend of mine Santia Jackson who had many obstacles before being able to play professional basketball overseas. I am currently finishing up designing her website which has video, photos and her total profile. Please if you ever thought about giving up on your dreams, read this poem. There will be an audio added soon.

My Journey

Life is so complicated
And at times I hate it
In pursuit of my dreams
I idolized material things
That now seem overrated.
As a kid I wanted the big house and the fancy car
I even dreamed about being a superstar
In the public eye like, Beyonce, Oprah, and Maya Angelou
The people would love me
because they loved the way I flow.
I prayed from time to time
I didn’t want a new start
I just wanted God to give me what’s in my heart
Can’t he read my mind?
It’s like God never listened to me.
I have been struggling since before,
mom and dad I was one of four
we escaped from poverty
and made it to the middle class
but life was still hard for me
that’s why I hate to talk about my past.

I remember it like it was yesterday, the decision I made,
my mom always wanted us to attend university
she put us first you see
that’s why I stayed.
From Chi-town
to Georgetown
Freshmen year I was ready to put it down
Career highs, world renown
Academic –All American
Good Grades-Great Samaritan
but you see it all changed,
I never really played
and you got to get in the game
for people to remember your name.
As the year past, I was upset but didn’t sweat it,
since there was nothing I can do to change the past, I said just forget it.
I put all my energy into the game
when I was not practicing I would daydream
about how this year the fans would say my name
and although the seasons changed,
my situation did not,
I was still on the bench praying for my coach to give me a shot.

Another year passed
I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t playing
I wanted to leave
In the Bible it said first shall finish last,
And last was me.
It hurt it was painful because I knew I was good
even my own teammates didn’t understand it
I asked God why can’t I play dammit?
I remained positive but I spent many nights with tears.
I cried out to God, for four freakin years.
You see
My dream
Was to be
A professional athlete
And my reality
Made it hard to see.
My mom said pray
it will happen God’s way,
But I prayed for four years
And no change came
How can I be a professional, when I can’t even get in the game?

And finally, I was getting ready to graduate
I was real sad
four years had passed
and I knew now it was too late.
Who would pay me
to play professionally,
I didn’t even have a tape.
After my last college game,
I prayed
I remember my mom telling me if you have the will, God will make a way.
I only played 7 minutes that night
the last game of the season
for some reason
I just didn’t give up the fight.
I believed
even when my reality
showed me
that it was hopeless.
And people were asking me, what are you going to do now, you got to get a real job, but I didn’t listen to them because I didn’t want to lose focus.
You see, the devil is a liar, and I know this.
And one night I was talking to a friend
my teammate
she’s Russian
She told me her old coach in Russia coaches professionally
he is looking for a 3, 4, who can run the floor
before she could even finish, I said, shoot, that’s me.
God gave me a contact
a month later I had a contract.
I went from being on the bench
to playing with and against
Olympians and WNBA players.
Why, because I stayed focus on God and didn’t listen to these haters.
So I stand before you today,
knowing that God can and will make a way.
This testimony is very special to me

Because if it was not for God I wouldn’t be playing professionally.

THANK-YOU

Santia Jackson

In December 2007, the local tv station did a story on me and I wanted to share it with everyone. The interview was in Spanish and the local language in Cataluyna, Spain: Catalan. Let the video load first its pretty big. Below is the translation and original in Spanish.

Sylita Thomas, a native of Virginia, USA, left his country being one of the best basketball players from Georgetown University. Today dresses with the blue shirt of BF Viladecans in his first season. Sylita is one of the starters of the team and the statistics bear this out. During the 06/07 season when she played in the ranks of Jovent Palma averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game.

XAVI (my coach): It’s not like sometimes you can make a star player but a team player. Even at times she should score for herself to play more, she rather give it to other players. Sometimes abused wanting to give assists rather than scoring.

The center of 83 meters in height began his shooting by Europe advised by her basketball agent. First tested their luck in the Finnish League where he played for 3 years before landing in our country. This is his fifth year in Spain. Bilbao, Palma de Mallorca and Linares have been the cities where she played before coming to Viladecans. Her life here is pretty entertaining.

She attended one of their Spanish classes. Along with other foreign students Sylita Thomas goes daily to school to improve their mastery of the language.

Although basketball is a paid profession, the North American has a university degree: designing web pages. It has more than 200 websites and most are related to the sport.

Sylita hopes to be able to help the team in its objective, the arrival in the play-offs and promotion to the highest category, the Women’s League.

Marcus Brown summed it up quite nicely in his interview with FIBA after an extraordinary game with Zalgiris Kaunas. Brown is an American is balancing basketball and winning by having more interaction with the country, team, family and other outside of basketball activities. I agree 100% with Marcus, because if you’re only concentrating on basketball it could overwhelm you and become stressful which is not fun at all.

In his 5minute interview he speaks very well about his team and what they are trying to accomplish. Good luck!

But as you can see the floor is green Their court is quite different. I can say it is my least favorite to play on because of my “jumpers knee”. But leave your comments of this small experience!
