This is a powerful poem written by a friend of mine Santia Jackson who had many obstacles before being able to play professional basketball overseas. My Journey

Life is so complicated
And at times I hate it
In pursuit of my dreams
I idolized material things
That now seem overrated.
As a kid I wanted the big house and the fancy car
I even dreamed about being a superstar
In the public eye like, Beyonce, Oprah, and Maya Angelou
The people would love me
because they loved the way I flow.
I prayed from time to time
I didn’t want a new start
I just wanted God to give me what’s in my heart
Can’t he read my mind?
It’s like God never listened to me.
I have been struggling since before,
mom and dad I was one of four
we escaped from poverty
and made it to the middle class
but life was still hard for me
that’s why I hate to talk about my past.

Marcus Brown summed it up quite nicely in his interview with FIBA after an extraordinary game with Zalgiris Kaunas. Brown is an American is balancing basketball and winning by having more interaction with the country, team, family and other outside of basketball activities. I agree 100% with Marcus, because if you’re only concentrating on basketball it could overwhelm you and become stressful which is not fun at all.

In his 5minute interview he speaks very well about his team and what they are trying to accomplish. Good luck!

Do you think that basketball is life? For most basketball players, basketball is there life. At one point in my life when I was younger I thought the same thing..All I wanted to do was play and play and everything basketball.

There are many great stories of basketball players and their lives, their success, their motivation and greatness. A new website A Players Life, gives the inside depth of basketball players around the world and what makes them very special.
