$650 dollars and a dream can get you far these days. Ask, Dennis Horner, new player of the New Jersey Nets who risked trying out for the NBA-D League following his heart and dreams to become an NBA player. Horner, played in Cyprus previously and saw the chance to try out for the NBA-D League in open tryouts. He gave his all and impressed many and played in the D League while the NBA was having a baby fight with owners and players and Horner flourished.

Now as a player for the New Jersey Nets, Horner is working hard to stay on the team after February but until then he will receive his first NBA paycheck for $45,000 every two weeks.

The impending NBA lockout that had threatened for months has now been averted, with teams headed back to the court starting Christmas Day. Teams across the country are currently readying themselves to the campaign with training camps and player acquisitions, making it an interesting time to be an NBA fan. Schedules for teams across the country were also released Friday, including those for the LA Clippers. The Clippers will commence their season at home on Dec. 30 when they welcome league powerhouse Chicago to the Staples Center. With electrifying players like Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin ready to do battle, it’s not hard to imagine that Los Angeles Clippers Tickets are already selling well for such a great early-season matchup.

But the question remains: Will the Clippers be able to take the next step? To that end, they have just completed the signing of Caron Butler from the Dallas Mavericks and are also rumored to have set their sights on a slate of other players including Chris Paul, one of the most talented players in the entire NBA. Butler is a 31-year-old veteran who began his career with the Miami Heat before playing for the Lakers and the Washington Wizards. The small forward is a two-time NBA All-Star and was appointed to the NBA All Rookie First Team in 2003. He was an NBA Champion in 2010-2011 and Big East Player of the Year in 2002 showing fans that he has plenty of pelts on the wall during his basketball career. Surgery sidelined Butler for much of his one season with the Mavericks, but he will likely be looking for fresh start with the Clippers and will be eager to lead the Clippers’ attack.

Chris Paul on the other hand is a point guard who is still currently with the New Orleans Hornets, though that may only be for the moment. The 25-year-old is a former NBA Rookie of the Year and a four-time NBA All-Star player. Paul has only just narrowly avoided being traded to the Lakers early in the preseason, setting the NBA . However, an LA move could still be in the cards for the player, albeit to the Clippers instead. One way or another, it seems Chris Paul could possibly be playing his home games at the Staples Center this season, which would obviously suit Clippers fans quite nicely.

With Butler already signed and Paul or others likely on the way, the Clippers look set to emerge as a revitalized team next season. Of course, with Paul’s potential arrival likely to be an ongoing process, there remain other questions. Will Eric Gordon depart? Is it possible he’ll be offered in partial trade for Paul? There is also still the outside chance that the Clippers will succeed in signing DeAndre Jordan, another talented player who could be a big part of the team for years to come. With many questions still out there, it won’t be long before Clippers fans start to get some answers.

However, there is another program that I would like to talk about and its RushFit. Trained by Georges St-Pierre, considered the fittest man in the country, has 8 week training course with a series of intense full body workouts. The MMA world champion knows how to win on a professional level and I’m sure this program challenges Shaun T’s. Insanity Program.

Once I have a chance to put it to the test I’ll write about it here. Its nice have a change up in workouts and what I like about these types of workout videos is that you can always go back and start from whatever fitness level your body can take. Also, mixing programs is good for changing routine because we all know how the body can become comfortable and not maximize performance.

The GSP’s workout program is only priced at $29.00 for three months plus shipping.

I’ve played on many types of basketball goals and I have to say that I prefer the Fixed In-Ground like in the college and professional leagues. They are just more durable and more reliable. Apart from that, they are appropriate for basketball systems outdoors, if you are planning on an installing in your home or local area. The prices for Fixed In-Ground goals are priced roughly a little less than $2,000 and that usually doesn’t cover the expense of installation!

Roof mounted rims and systems are my least favorite but they work well for shooting around and skill building however not enough for 5 on 5 games. The adjustable in-ground goal system is not bad at all, however, like I mentioned before, I like having my basketball goal system regulated to top standards every time I hit the court!

This new video game is being hailed by many as containing one of the most realistic depictions of athletes ever in a video game. The faces of the basketball players, their tattoos and accessories look more realistic than they have ever done before in this type of game and this should really impress those who play it. Even though the animations in previous NBA 2K games have been really good quality, those in the 2K12 edition are said to be even better. This, coupled with the realistic look of the basketball players should make for a really great gaming experience for players.

Another feature that has been improved is the coaching staff, including the assistants. Bob McAdoo and Ed Pinckney have been altered so that their appearance is more accurate than before, which emphasises the authentic atmosphere of the game. If someone has just been playing something different like partypoker and decides to have a go at this game for the first time, they will surely be pleasantly surprised at the new features. It is noticeably different from the previous NBA 2K games and the feelings of reality that it suggests are likely to be unexpected.

Players of this new game are also given a lot more freedom and control than they have in previous versions. While there used to be complaints that one stick movement would create three animations in the athletes during things like dribble and shot animations, this year’s edition is said to fix that issue. Similar to the 2K10 edition, players now have more control over the athletes.

The ball in this game is always moving, with interaction constantly going on with it. Movements can change quickly and a dribble can become a deflection. The collision detection with ball and body has an unprecedented level of detail and this game looks to be a great new edition to the NBA 2K series.

It is a wonderful thing to be able to play overseas and live your dream of playing professional after college. However, just like anywhere your safety and life is never guaranteed. American player Chauncey Hardy was a victim of assault and died after being attacked in a bar in Romania after a team victory on October 9th 2011.

Former Sacred Heart guard Chauncey Hardy died after being attacked in a bar in Romania.

Romanian Basketball Federation chief Carmen Tocala told GSP radio that Hardy died Sunday, suffering two heart attacks following his beating Saturday night.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a fine young man who had his life cut short at such a young age while he was overseas doing something he loved,” Sacred Heart Athletic Director C. Donald Cook said in a statement.

Police spokeswoman Mirela Gheta said the 23-year-old Hardy had severe head injuries and was in a coma when he was admitted to the hospital.

Hardy died shortly after undergoing surgery in a Bucharest hospital.

Hardy played for CSS Giurgiu in southern Romania and was celebrating a victory over rival Dinamo Bucharest in Giurgiu when several men were reported to have attacked him.

“This is a terrible tragedy and we are saddened as a University and a basketball program,” Sacred Heart men’s basketball coach Dave Bike said in a statement. “This is not just about a basketball player, but the person as well. It transcends what happens on a basketball court. We feel tremendous sadness and loss for Chauncey’s family and those who were close to him.”

Hardy averaged 12.5 points for Sacred Heart in 2009-10.

During the past week there have been many rumors of top NBA stars such as, Dwight Howard and Deron Williams signing pro contracts overseas because of the 2011-2012 NBA Lockout if it remains inoperative. Deron Williams has already signed with Turkish Club Besiktas with clauses of the NBA Lockout. Yesterday, Dwight Howard made it known that he would like to remain active and improve his game while the NBA finds a solution. His options look to be China, Spain or other powerhouse countries in Europe.

This summer the NBA has closed down the NBA Summer League and players are anxious to find out their future for the next season. With the economic crisis, many European teams will have very very great teams and some very very bad teams due to powerhouse team budgets. Is this a safe move for NBA players who have health insurance and all sorts of benefits as an active NBA player? For Williams and Howard, it is like playing chess, however the biggest move and smartest move could be to hang in there and be patient. Superstars in Europe and overseas is great, however, the best players that go overseas are those who will work hard to get to the best league in the world and that is the NBA and WNBA!

Current list of possible NBA Players signing Overseas

This past winter I start using the Insanity Workout DVDs that a couple of friends recommended. They explained to me that it was interval training but flipped upside down and a hell of a workout. I thought that I’d give it a try, thinking it would be fairly easy… Well I was wrong.. I’ve had many sport trainings and workouts however, the Insanity Workout with Shaun T and company its probably one of the best and hardest that I’ve done.

It is 60 days of pure interval training at very high levels. The first month alone is enough to smack someone lol.. But I love the hard work throughout the week. Training 5 days a week and a fit tests after every two weeks. I noticed lots of improvements and thought to myself during the offseason, that this would be awesome for basketball players. My current Insanity schedule is waking up between 7-8 am to get it out of the way. Later in the afternoon some hoops.

The program includes a diet plan that could easily fit for basketball players during the off-season and some of the workouts cater to different sports including basketball. Defensive position, vertical jump improvement, core body strength and get shoulder arm workouts for shooting.

I highly recommend the Insanity Workout and would love to see how much you improve!!
