Don’t Sell Yourself Short
I’m guilty as charged. Don’t sell yourself short. I see it more often than before because of the internet but players often say “I’ll play for free”. This will not get you a job. Show your stuff, be confident and the rest will take care of itself.
If you are prepared as I have written about previously in due time a team will find you or vice versa. If you can afford to play without pay by all means for the experience do what you have to do, but I don’t encourage it. Your labor and love of the game is worth something. No one has to work for free so please when you see a post in a forum about a new job. DO NOT POST
“WILL PLAY FOR FREE” - It is not realistic!
My unusual rant for today :-/

Hello,
How can a young man 6′7 190 who did not develop an interest in basketball until his 11th grade year in high school get seen? I just finished my 1st year in college. I did not try-out for the team because I wanted to concentrate on my grades. I love basketball and just want an opportunity to show myself. The coaches at my school know who I am because I lived in the gym. I will be starting my 2nd year in college this August at UMES. Please advise. Thanks

I support the say 100% Basketball is worth much more than playing for free. taking one’s time in making the right choices will help in facing this fact more realistically and have a positive way forward. Peace!
